WHO WE ARE... |
Teen Challenge is a God centered drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility, which believes in a total cure for the whole man. Something only God can provide.
In 1958, David Wilkerson was pastoring a small country church in Pennsylvania, when he dared to see what God would do through him if he spent at least 2 hours a day in prayer and meditation. It was not long before the Lord spoke to his spirit and compelled him to go to New Yord City and minister to the "street kids" (those young people around teenage years) who were involved in fighting in the streets and in crime of every sort. At that time Reverend Wilkerson was not aware of the fact that along with the incredible rate of crime, there existed an even more menacing problem... DRUG ABUSE!
From there Teen Challenge has grown to be the largest non-profit, private endeavor of it's kind in the world. Geared toward people with life-controlling problems, a person's need is seen in the light of the Christian message which declares that the power of God is really the answer for them. Only He has the power to change a life and make it brand new. Presently Teen Challenge has 150 centers in the United States and Puerto Rico, and 300 others in 26 foreign countries.

WHAT WE DO... |
Teen Challenge provides the help needed by both men and women to be reestablished in society after they have ridded themselves of their life-controlling problems.
|
HOW? |
Students are involved in a loving and well disciplined environment. This includes counseling, group interaction, religious activities, academic instruction, recreation and vocational training. Community outreach programs and church attendance are required.
|
PROOF OF SUCCESS... |
Based on an independant survey in 1975, conducted by the National Opinion Research Organization and funded by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Teen Challenge has a documented 86% cure rate for drug addiction. This percentage is based on a chemical test given to those interviewed five years after completing the program. The Federal Government recognizes anyone who has been drug free for a period of five years to be completely recovered. |
Teen Challenge is a "Christian Faith-Based" program. If you need help or know someone who needs help, please check out the "Intake Checklist" page and then contact us.
